We’ve got good news for artists!

There are several changes to the Festival this year that we created for artists to make you want to jump and shout. How do you like this for example? Artists can paint in over 1600 square miles of territory in Southwest Idaho. We’ve also extended the competition paint time for artists to include 7 days. Artists have all week to create a nocturnal painting.  Not excited yet? Check out these highlights for this year’s expanded Eagle Plein Air Festival.

  • Register before August 15 to be listed as a “Featured Artist” $75
  • We have 50 Festival Swag Bags worth $200+ for artists that are the first to sign up
  • Compete for $3000+ in prizes, ribbons and special awards
  • Double your chances of winning by entering a 2nd painting for judging $45
  • Exhibit and sell artwork at the Festival, subject to space limitations
  • Register by August 1 to be listed as a “Featured Artist”
  • Registration includes the general competition, nocturnal, quick draw, demonstrations, welcome reception and awards celebration
  • Sign up on-line or in person at Finer Frames
  • Artists who wish to exhibit and enter their art in competition must follow the rules established by the Festival overlords and have their blank surfaces stamped at Finer Frames
  • Join our Eagle Plein Air Painters Facebook group for inside info, important tips and so much more!

Everyone is welcome to paint and draw, but only artists that sign up early get the goods…

Eagle offers an exciting variety of subject matter for painters; barns, river front, rolling foothills and more. Our event staff will answer questions and be happy to recommend the best access areas for painters. Here’s just a few area highlights…

The Foothills rise above Eagle, providing a postcard backdrop that inspires and soothes the soul. An interconnected network of roads and trails courses through these hills, linking not only neighborhoods with public lands but also connecting people with the natural environment. Read More

The Payette River, just 30 minutes drive north of Eagle offers plenty of scenic places to paint. Here are a few of our favorite spots along Highway 55:

Mile Marker 74 – Chief Parrish Boat Launch has river access, bathroom & $3 parking fee. https://www.blm.gov/visit/payette-river-chief-parrish
Mile Marker 77 – Free roadside parking, pine trees & white water rapids.
Mile Marker 78 – Recreation site with bathrooms, beach, trees & great river access.
Mile Marker 79 – Banks, Idaho is a popular boat launch site and has easy parking, river access & restaurant. It is also where the South Fork joins the main Payette River. It’s only 35 miles from Eagle and well within the Festival boundaries
Mile Marker 81 – NF Payette Trestle Bridge offers an interesting scene. https://bridgehunter.com/id/boise/bh75090/

Join us the additional Nocturnal painting competition. Artists are free to paint by street lamps or the light of the moon. Paintings eligible for this special competition are due to Finer Frames at 12:00pm Friday.

The Boise River Greenbelt follows its namesake river among towering trees, connecting downtown Eagle neighborhoods and the business district to Boise and beyond to the East. The 46-mile trail is one of the area’s most popular for its scenic views, wildlife and access to popular parks and recreation sites. In addition it provides a non-motorized corridor for commuters and passes by the BSU campus. Read More EagleRiver

All paintings offered for sale will share a 40% commission off the retail price  with Finer Frames. Event staff will handle all transactions and pay artists at the conclusion of the Festival show.
