ART IN THE GARDEN – Quick Draw Challenge 🎨

Brushes up, artists! Step into the vibrant setting of Old Valley Nursery for a thrilling two-hour painting challenge surrounded by blossoms, blooms, and garden charm. Whether you’re capturing colorful flowers, rustic textures, or scenic nursery views, this is your moment to shine.
Check-in & Canvas Stamping begins at 9:30am
Deadline: All finished, framed pieces must be submitted with easel by 12:00pm sharp
Once the final brushstroke is laid, artwork will be displayed on easels right in the garden—and ribbons will be awarded on the spot! Painting en plein air is encouraged for that authentic festival vibe, but not required.
🌿 This is a fantastic event for spectators too! Come stroll the nursery, watch the magic happen, and cheer on your favorite artists.

The cost to enter for the Quick Draw Competition is included with your registration fee for the Eagle Plein Air Festival. Mark your paintings with NAME, TITLE & PRICE on tags provided. Turn in framed & wired paintings in by 12:00pm. Quick Draw Ribbons will be placed immediately following. Artwork will be available for sale at Finer Frames through Festival Week.
SCHEDULE
9:30 am – 10:00am: ARTIST CHECK-IN (MANDATORY)
At check-in each artist will:
- Receive official painting surface stamps: The back of each painting surface must be officially stamped to be considered valid. Artists may complete more than one piece, but all paintings surfaces must be stamped. Pieces submitted without the official stamp will not be accepted.
After you check-in:
- Set up at painting location You may set up your gear before stamping
- Print your name on the back of your artwork before you begin painting
- Wait until 10:00 am. No painting is to begin before 10:00 am. You must start with a stamped, blank canvas. A base tone is allowed but no drawing.
10:00 am – 12:00 pm: ARTISTS PAINT Competition starts at 10 AM and ends sharply at 12 PM. This is the ONLY time paintings may be done from a reference photo, although painting in the true spirit of “plein air” is encouraged.
12:00 pm: TURN-IN COMPLETED FRAMED ARTWORK Artists will bring completed and framed/matted artwork and display on their easel. Stamps must be visible to be eligible for judging. Ribbons will be awarded immediately following.
