In only it’s second year, the Eagle Plein Air Festival exceeded expectations for the number of participants and patrons. The festival saw an impressive 40% increase in artists over the prior year. Dozens of painters were found all over Downtown Eagle, in fields and in the foothills.
One of the many highlights was Friday’s workshop taught by the visiting guest artist and Festival juror David Mensing. The workshop was well attended in JoAnn’s Iris Gardens.
Saturday’s QUICK DRAW Competition brought dozens of painters to Downtown Eagle for the 2 hour speed painting session. Popular with patrons, it drew lots of traffic to the Eagle Saturday Market.
Pastel artist Bonnie Zahn Griffith dazzled all with her demonstration during the Festival Awards Reception on Saturday evening.
With more than 100 WET paintings coming into the Gallery, the newly dubbed “North West Olympic Gallery Hanging Team” went to work installing the paintings. It took a little more than an hour to get the Gallery ready for judging and the reception.
The Gallery was filled with Festival-goers Saturday evening for the Awards Show & Sale. Artists and patrons mingled over delicious food from Porterhouse and Proletariat Wine.
There is still time to see the show! The exhibition continues during Eagle’s Last Thursday event on June 30 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. You can see all the paintings at the Gallery at Finer Frames located on Old State Street in downtown Eagle. The Gallery is open weekdays 10:00am – 5:00pm and Saturdays Noon – 4:00pm. The show concludes in mid-July.
